Introduction
A number of inter-institutional graduate student enrollment agreements have been established enabling full-time graduate students from one institution to take graduate level courses at one of the other participating institutions. Students must be currently enrolled full-time at their home institution in order to participate, and the courses taken must be courses not offered at the graduate student’s home institution.
The institutions currently participating in inter-institutional agreements include Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston and the University of Houston.
Please Note: Due to the structure of the summer program at Rice University, this arrangement is not available to Non-Rice students during the summer terms.

For Rice Students
- The host university should automatically send an official transcript to the Rice University Office of the Registrar – however, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the transcript is received.
- The Rice University Transfer Credit Specialist will apply TRAN credit toward the student’s record after receipt of the official transcript from the host university.
- TRAN credit is applied due to the fact that courses taken through Inter-Institutional agreements have no equivalent at Rice University
