Obtaining Your Diploma
Can I pick up my diploma in your office?
Yes, diplomas will be available for pick-up Monday, July 13th - Friday, July 17th, between the hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm. Please monitor your Rice email before and after commencement for messages regarding graduation and diplomas. Pick-up will be in the Office of the Registrar, 116 Allen Center. Please bring a valid picture ID.
Someone other than you can pick-up your diploma. However, a few guidelines must be followed.
- The person(s) retrieving the diploma(s) must have written and signed permission from the graduate when they arrive to retrieve the diploma.
- A valid picture ID (usually a driver license) and the signature of the receiver will be required upon release of the diploma.
- No exceptions will be made.
Generally, all diplomas not picked-up in our office will be mailed to the graduate’s permanent address as listed in ESTHER. Diplomas are mailed USPS certified mail and require a signature for delivery. Please ensure that the address you will be sending the diploma to will have someone available to sign for the diploma. If no one is available to sign for the delivery a notice will most likely be left notifying the occupant that the USPS is attempting to deliver a package requiring a signature. However, not all states and counties provide this service.
To your permanent address as listed in ESTHER as of July 20th. If this is not where you want your diploma to be mailed, please contact the Office of the Registrar via email at registrar@rice.edu.
Certified mail cannot be delivered to a PO Box.
Please be advised that the Office of the Registrar cannot determine a delivery date to a foreign address once they have been mailed from the US.
